Timing is everything before it is nothing... http://www.realmhq.com/news.php?section=5&story=85
When I first took on this site I decided to just flatfile all data (put all the html/data into files and update it accordingly when I needed to; it saved time but wasn't fancy nor dynamic and sometimes it took some time to update the data in the proper sections.

Additionally our first systems where various scripts I found online that did about what I wanted them to with little to no editing required.

Over the time I've spent maintaining the site I decided that The Realm Online is really somewhere that I've loved to be over the years, and the users deserved more than my modest laziness; so I decided to get to work coding.

In most cases you don't get to see the complexity of how certain things function, the news page for example has numerous sections, each with their own pagination (the portion of the script that makes the various pages) and sections in the database that they pull news from. It may sound easy, but once you dive deep into the confines of PHP/MySQL code and make it XHTML/CSS valid with script fed alternating cells things get a wee bit complicated...

I try to bring things as fast as I can (with the exception of my being sick lately) but I refuse to use something that I personally cannot vouch for (such as using other peoples code on this site, not to mention the learning experiances).

I'm dedicated to making this site the premier Realm Online resource for all of its fans for years to come, reguardless of what other sites pop up, I will be here working hard to give back to the game and its users who have given me so much.

So to everyone who keeps asking when the next update to the site is coming; be patient, it'll be worth it :).]]>

Contacting Norsman Games http://www.realmhq.com/news.php?section=5&story=77
If you require support from Norseman Games please email their Customer Service department at cs@realmserver.com.

Again, we cannot provide any sort of "official" support that would normally be provided by Norseman Games and any response from us on any NG issue will be purely speculation and assumption.]]>

Rest in Peace, Calowl http://www.realmhq.com/news.php?section=5&story=44
Robbie was more than just a good friend to us all, he was family; better family to me than my own. I am sure that I can speak for us all by saying that Robbie will truely be missed.

Robbie was a longstanding member of The Realm Online as was well liked by many players, he was always the first to step up and help someone. Robbie was the second in command of Keepers of Realm when it was initially founded, he since then took command as the leader with myself as his second.

Robbie had also helped a lot here at RealmHQ, he had assisted me with screenshots and information for the site, as well ask kept me going when things got rough and I wanted to give up. For all of his hard work and divotion to helping out his friends, he will forever be remembered.

Things will be hard without you Robbie, you'll be in all of our prayers.

We love you,
Wizzeh

Disabled... http://www.realmhq.com/news.php?section=5&story=32
Additionally, the email I recieved from CS said that I had been teleporting myself around realm and to "Secret Places"; I'm sorry, the only time I've ever been teleported was during a copper event; and if I wanted to see "secret places" I'd just mosy on over to RealmOracle.com as there are plenty of them shown lol...

I recieved the same disable email that FMoD got, additionally he got one the same day I got dissed on his second account which I had access to (as it held armor he was borrowing, and I had accessed to retrieve my stuff); likely they saw my ip accessing his account and jumped to the conclusion that I was him too...

Anywho, I'm asking anyone who knows me to go ahead and write a character referance into Norseman Games (cs@realmserver.com) and hopefully I can get back on soon...

Special thanks to BoL and Calowl for letting everyone know within the game. The funny thing is, both of "my" accounts got disabled, one of which is technically BoL's as she pays for it AND plays on it 99% of the time... So who knows what NG was thinking...

For those of you who are curious what I've been doing with myself for the last 3 days of being Realmless, I've taken the time to work on some coding projects that I've been neglecting; I've completely recoded Corthell.net (family site) and I'm working on VNC Web Design (my business site), I may work on Pacific Servers (side business with friends) if I have some time as well...]]>
